Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has contracted Systra India to perform detailed design studies for a 10.4 km underground section of the Patna Metro Line 1. The work is commissioned on behalf of the Patna Metro Rail Corporation for the rapid transit system under development in the state of Bihar.

The design scope for Systra encompasses six underground stations and the associated twin tunnels. This segment extends between Mithapur Ramp and Rukanpura Ramp. The contract also includes the design of all ancillary buildings and the access and exit structures for the stations.

This underground portion is part of the 18.5 km east-west Line 1, also designated the Red Line. The full corridor will connect Danapur Cantonment to Khemni Chak and will incorporate a total of 15 stations upon completion.

The overall Patna Metro network is planned to be 32 km long, comprising two intersecting lines with 25 stations. The second corridor, the 16.2 km north-south Line 2 (Blue Line), will have 12 stations. The integrated system is designed to provide connectivity to key transport nodes, including Patna Central Station and the interstate bus terminal.
