RZD Int. LLC Completes Works on the Vranjska Banja-Ristovac Site

RZD International LLC (a subsidiary of JSC Russian Railways) has completed work on the Vranjska Banja-Ristovac site of the Pan-European Corridor X ahead of schedule.

In accordance with the Vranjska Banja-Ristovac reconstruction project, more than 17 km of the lower and upper track was completely replaced; seven switches were lain; eight crossings were reconstructed; two stations and low platforms, as well as the drainage system device, were reconstructed; and signaling and communication systems were reconstructed.

All construction and installation works were carried out in the 36-h mode of technological windows without the complete cessation of trains. Serbian companies were involved in the construction.

Due to the reconstruction, the train speed on this railway section has increased significantly, and they are now able to reach 120 km/h; their earlier speed did not exceed 50 km/h.

Thus, two of the three southern sections of the Pan-European Corridor X that RZD International LLC is working on have been completed according to the contract.

The total cost of the project of reconstruction of all three areas is more than $38 million.

Since March 2014, holding company Russian Railways has been implementing a contract for the construction and reconstruction of Serbian railway infrastructure. The contract was signed as part of an agreement between the governments of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Serbia for state export credit to Serbia of $800 million. The total amount of the contract was $941 million.
