President of JSC «Russian Railways» and Ambassador of India signed memorandum of mutual understanding in the field of railway transport.
On December 24 in Moscow President of JSC «Russian Railways» Oleg Belozerov and Ambassador of India in Russian Federation Pundi Srinivasan Raghavan signed memorandum of mutual understanding between JSC «Russian Railways» and Ministry of Railways of the Republic of India concerning technical cooperation in the railway sector. The signing took place in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the signed document the parties agreed to develop cooperation in the field of high-speed railway highways, modernization of the existing railway infrastructure in the field of modern management systems and traffic safety in matters of satellite and GIS technologies, transport and information security.
Besides, the documents provides cooperation in the field of rolling stock’s production, high load capacity transportation, development of allocated freight corridors, as well as training of Indian Railway’s employees.
Similar document was operating from 2006 to 2009. The purpose of this kind of cooperation renewal is to identify among the areas of mutual interest specific projects in India for the joint implementation on a mutually beneficial basis.
