A $60 million, six-year contract for final design services on the Metro A Line extension has been awarded to Parsons Transportation Group Inc. by the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority. The agreement covers the 2.3-mile light-rail segment planned between Pomona and Claremont in Los Angeles County.

Under the terms of the agreement, Parsons Transportation Group Inc. is responsible for advancing all project elements from the existing 30% design stage to final, construction-ready drawings. The contract also mandates the provision of design support services during the future construction of the Claremont extension.

The Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority has also released a Request for Proposals for a separate Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) contract to build the 2.3-mile extension. A decision on the CMAR contract award is anticipated in May.
