A contract valued at PLN 382.6 million was finalized on January 21 between manufacturer Newag and the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. The agreement covers the supply of seven 45WE Impuls electric multiple units (EMUs) for operation by Koleje Małopolskie. The delivery of these vehicles is scheduled for the 2028–2029 period.

This procurement is the third execution of a framework agreement established in September 2024. The parent agreement allows for the acquisition of up to 25 trainsets with a total potential value exceeding PLN 1.3 billion. With this latest order, the Lesser Poland Voivodeship has contracted a total of 19 Impuls units from Newag under this framework.

Financing for the seven EMUs is provided through the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment (FEnIKS) program for 2021–2027. The new rolling stock is designated for the Szybka Kolej Aglomeracyjna (SKA) metropolitan network. The vehicles will be deployed to increase service frequency on the SKA1 line, which connects Wieliczka Rynek Kopalnia with Krakow Airport.

Each 45WE Impuls unit is specified with a capacity for 550 passengers. The fleet expansion supports planned service extensions, including a projected route between Krakow and Myślenice. The vehicle configuration includes provisions for passengers with reduced mobility, designated family areas, and onboard ticket machines.
