Moroccan Railways Chosen High-Speed Railway Constructor

Moroccan Railways has secured a $2.3 billion rail contract with France-based Egis and Morocco’s Ingema, focusing on designing and constructing 87km of the Kenitra-Tangiers high-speed line by 2015.

Moroccan Railways has awarded a MAD20bn ($2.3bn) rail contract to a consortium of France-based Egis and Moroccan partner Ingema.

According to Railjournal.com the project involves the design and construction management of an 87km portion of the Kenitra-Tangiers high-speed line. The work is scheduled to be completed in 2015.

The Moroccan Government is expected to finance MAD4.8bn ($541m) of the project. Moroccan Railways is also expected to order a fleet of Alstom Duplex double-deck high-speed trains for the line.
