Bangladesh will receive a $1bn loan from India to finance several rail infrastructure projects in the country.

The projects include the building of two railway bridges worth $120m, the construction of an overpass at Jurain rail crossing, and a $31.44m flyover at Malibagh rail crossing in Dhaka.

A total of ten broad-gauge locomotive engines worth $31.55m will be procured for Bangladesh Railway. A separate project will involve the procurement of 125 broad-gauge passenger coaches at a cost of $53.63m and the purchase of 60 tank wagons at $8.85m, according to the Daily Star.
