An agreement between FS Italiane and trade unions has authorized the permanent deployment of body cameras for all operational personnel within the state railway’s FS Security division. The new equipment will be utilized during security operations conducted in stations and on board trains throughout Italy.

The system’s specifications require the devices to transmit live video, audio, and geolocation data to a central command center operated by FS Security. This capability is intended to support real-time situational assessment and response coordination. The decision to proceed with a nationwide implementation follows a period of operational trials with the technology.

Protocols established under the union agreement stipulate that officers must manually activate the recording function. Activation is restricted to circumstances where an officer perceives a risk to personal safety or the security of passengers and infrastructure. All recorded data is encrypted, and the system architecture prevents the device wearer from accessing, modifying, or deleting the footage.
