The European Investment Bank has approved a €119 million loan to Tunisia for its suburban network in Tunis, including two lines with 28 trains and 14 stations.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved a loan of €119m ($159.8m) to Tunisia for its suburban network in the capital city of Tunis.

The project includes the construction of the first stretches of two lines on the Tunis suburban railway, as well as the purchasing of rolling stock.
The 17.2km line will include 14 stations and 28 trains. The project is being co-financed by French and German development agencies and the European Commission’s Neighbourhood Investment Facility.

Railway infrastructure, rolling stock and transport technologies specialist focused on global rail industry developments, high-speed rail systems, signaling technologies and freight transportation. Covering railway investments, public transport modernization, rail operations and international mobility projects across Europe, Asia and North America.
