Deutsche Bahn Regio AG Buys 83 EMU Trains

Bombardier Transportation and Alstom Transport have secured a €452 million contract with Deutsche Bahn Regio AG (DB Regio) for 83 electric multiple units, including an option for additional vehicles, under the ET 430 series design.

Bombardier Transportation and Alstom Transport have bagged a €452m ($605m) contract to supply 83 electric units of ET 430 series from Deutsche Bahn Regio AG (DB Regio).
Out of the total contract, Bombardier Transportation’s share of contract is €340m ($455m) and Alstom’s share is €112m ($150m).
The contract also includes an option of 83 additional electric multiple units.

The new energy-saving vehicles designed in cooperation with S-Bahn Stuttgart will be built by Bombardier in Hennigsdorf and by Alstom in Salzgitter, Germany.

The environmentally friendly trains achieve speeds of up to 140kmph and will run on six suburban railway lines of DB Regio.

The lines will carry 330,000 passengers daily after the delivery between February and December 2012. In March 2009, DB Regio AG won an order from the regional council of the German city of Stuttgart to further operate its S-Bahn network.
