Brightline and Sotereon.AI have collaborated to deploy LiDAR technology on two Brightline locomotives, a first for passenger rail in Florida. The project will generate a real-time digital model of the Brightline corridor.

LiDAR Implementation

The partnership between Brightline and Sotereon.AI involves the implementation of LiDAR technology on Brightline’s locomotives. This system uses laser pulses to create spatial images of the surrounding environment.

Project Goals

The primary goal of this project is to create an up-to-date digital model of the railway line during daily operations. This digital duplicate will assist with maintenance and inspection activities. The project also aims to analyze the effectiveness of high-resolution sensors on trains traveling at speeds up to 125 mph.

Brightline operates passenger trains connecting cities in Central and South Florida. These cities include Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, and Orlando. Brightline is also currently constructing a route linking Las Vegas and Southern California.
