Indian Railways has awarded an Rs9,900m (approximately $204m) contract to Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) for 150 mainline electric locomotives.

The new order is an addition to the previously placed order for 50 similar locomotives to the company. The locomotives will feature the country’s first ergonomically designed AC cabins among other features such as a tri-plate console for the brake system and a modern cable management system with EPDM modules.

Railway infrastructure, rolling stock and transport technologies specialist focused on global rail industry developments, high-speed rail systems, signaling technologies and freight transportation. Covering railway investments, public transport modernization, rail operations and international mobility projects across Europe, Asia and North America.
