Infrabel, Belgium railway operator, has equipped its new high-speed 35km L3 line with Alstom’s Level 2 ERTMS Atlas control and signalling system to reduce travel times.

The new system, which reduces travel time between Brussels and Frankfurt, will take only three hours and eight minutes to reach Frankfurt and one hour, 51 minutes to reach Cologne, from Brussels.
Alstom was responsible for the new signalling system’s design, manufacture, installation, testing and approval.
The line connecting Lieges in Belgium with the German border via Aachen is the first European cross-border high-speed line equipped with the Level 2 ERTMS system.
