Alstom, a French rail manufacturer, has signed a €220 million contract to supply 30 five-coach Civia IV model train sets to Spanish rail operator Renfe, including maintenance, for delivery from September 2009 until July 2010.

French rail manufacturer Alstom has signed a €220m contract to supply 30 commuter trains to Spanish rail operator Renfe.

The contract involves the manufacture of 30, five-coach Civia IV model train sets and their maintenance, to be delivered from September 2009 until July 2010. Alstom says the aluminium vehicles have been designed to reduce noise levels inside the trains which are also equipped with video screens and air conditioning.

Alstom has supplied the Spanish rail network with Civia trains in 2004 and 2006.
