Alstom and Ansaldo will Maintain Trenitalia ERTMS Systems

Italian rail operator Trenitalia has awarded a €25 million contract to French firm Alstom and Italy’s Ansaldo STS to maintain the ERTMS equipment for its high-speed trains, including 31 ETR500 models on new Milan-Naples and Torino-Venice routes.

Italian rail operator Trenitalia has awarded a €25m contract to French firm Alstom and Italy’s Ansaldo STS to maintain the European Railway Traffic Management System (ERTMS) equipment for its trains.

The team will provide maintenance of the ERTMS level 2 solution onboard 31 ETR500 high-speed trains. The fleet is in use on the new Milan-Naples and Torino-Venice high-speed rail lines.

Alstom’s share in the contract totals €13m. Its scope of work includes the diagnostic, monitoring, assistance and on-site maintenance of the equipment and of the GSM-R equipment mounted on the fleet.
