RailPros Acquires Diverging Approach, Boosts Rail System Services

RailPros has acquired Diverging Approach Inc., expanding its service capabilities in rail system engineering and implementation. In a separate development, ENSCO Inc. has formed a partnership with the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) to develop and distribute cybersecurity training courses for public transit agencies.

The acquisition of Diverging Approach Inc. integrates a provider of turnkey systems into RailPros’ operations. Diverging Approach specializes in the design of wayside and grading crossing systems, VHLC and ELX programming, and communications systems. The company’s service portfolio also includes CAD services, construction management, material procurement, on-site engineering, and specialized crossing design.

The stated goal of the merger is to form a blended service offering. This combination allows the new entity to manage projects from initial design phases through to final testing, personnel training, and the commissioning of complex rail systems. Verification data confirms the transaction and the scope of Diverging Approach’s services, but notes that specific financial details, technical specifications, and a closing date for the acquisition were not made available in public disclosures.

Concurrent with this consolidation, the transit sector is addressing digital security threats through a new educational initiative. ENSCO’s Center for Critical Infrastructure Protection (CCIP) is providing an initial cybersecurity awareness course through APTA’s learning platform, known as APTAU. The course is designed to equip transit personnel with foundational knowledge to counter common cyber threats.

Course participants will learn to identify attack vectors including phishing, malware, and social engineering. The curriculum also covers the application of best practices for password management, secure internet and email usage, and general data protection protocols. According to the announcement, APTA and ENSCO intend to release additional, more advanced cybersecurity training modules for the transit industry in the future.
