MUMBAI, INDIA – ABB has secured an order of an undisclosed value from Titagarh Rail Systems to supply traction systems and Train Control and Management Systems (TCMS) for 40 new six-car metro trains. The new rolling stock will serve Mumbai Metro’s Line 5 (Orange Line) and Line 6 (Pink Line). Line 5 connects Thane to Kalyan, while Line 6 runs between Swami Samarth Nagar and Vikhroli. These lines are designed to improve connectivity in the metropolitan area.

ABB’s scope includes an integrated package of traction and auxiliary converters, traction motors, and its TCMS software. All equipment will be manufactured locally. The traction converters will be produced at ABB’s facility in Bengaluru and the motors in Vadodara. The contract also includes provisions for local engineering, testing, and maintenance support.
