The transport authority Île-de-France Mobilités has contracted Hitachi Rail and EASIER to deliver the first urban cable car system in the Paris region, designated as Cable 1. The project establishes a new public transport modality for the area.

The planned route for the Cable 1 system extends 4.5 kilometers through the Val-de-Marne department. It will connect the terminus of Créteil with Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, with intermediate stops planned for the municipalities of Limeil-Brévannes and Valenton.

The infrastructure will consist of five stations. The end-to-end journey time on the aerial line is projected to be 18 minutes, compared to an existing 40-minute bus service covering a similar corridor.

Technical specifications for the Cable 1 system are designed for interoperability with other regional transport networks. The system’s framework is aligned with technology used for the Grand Paris Express metro on lines 15, 16, 17, and 18, and includes provisions for passengers with reduced mobility.
