Hitachi Rail deploys cutting-edge CBTC technology on Paris Metro Line

Hitachi Rail has recently secured a significant contract to deploy its advanced Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) digital signaling system on Paris Metro Line 12. This agreement, valued initially at €20 million, with potential extensions reaching €65 million, marks a substantial step in modernizing one of the world’s busiest metro networks. The implementation of this state-of-the-art technology is a core component of the OCTYS 2030 program, aimed at enhancing the efficiency and capacity of the Paris Metro.

Spanning 17.2 kilometers and encompassing 31 stations, Line 12 will benefit from a significant upgrade, leading to improved transit operations and increased passenger flow. This project represents Hitachi Rail’s third CBTC initiative for the Paris Metro, following the successful implementation on Line 3 and the upcoming commissioning of Line 6 in 2025. This collaboration with RATP, the operator of the Paris Metro, underscores the enduring partnership and commitment to innovation.
