Australian rail company Queensland Rail (QR) plans to launch rail freight services between Melbourne and Perth next month.

The company says it wants to provide its customers with a competitive service on the popular east-west corridor.
QR currently operates services between Cairns and Adelaide.
Australia’s east to west rail freight market is believed to be worth in the region of US$357m.
