On August 30, in Shcherbinka the 6th International Railway Fair EXPO 1520 and The Railway Engineering: Perspectives, Technologies, Priorities Conference starts. The delegation of JSC Russian Railways headed by company’s president Oleg Belozerov takes part in the Fair.
In his opening ceremony presentation the head of Russian Railways stressed how important the synchronous development of the transport and engineering industries could be.
“There is absolutely no chance for the railway transport to sustainably perform without railway engineering industry. Our most impressive investments in such products is the best proof. This year, we are buying 450 locomotives worth about 58 billion rubles. But positive changes in the transportation situation stimulate us to positively change our plans as well. Next year, we set the goal of purchasing more than 550 locomotives. We expect our companies to manufacture sufficient amounts of equipment. And new products should be of good quality, supported by best maintenance and service, and meeting latest requirements, “said Oleg Belozerov.
According to him, JSC Russian Railways holds the mechanisms of life-cycle contracts as a necessary guarantee to ensure the consumer qualities of engineering products.
At the same time, covering the issue of functional standards for locomotives, Oleg Belozerov noted that they should meet the relevance requirements and suggested revising the standard operation time for new equipment and reducing it according to the needs of customers.
“In terms of depreciation a locomotive is to operate for some 40 years. Probably, years ago when changes were running slow it used to be a great term. But today it has to be changed because life and science are rushing ahead so we need to provide our passengers and shippers with new approaches and offers on a regular basis, ” the head of Russian Railways said.
