50 Locomotives will be Produced for ADY in Astana

Azerbaijani railways have signed an agreement with Kazakhstan’s “Electrovoz kurastyru zauyty” LLP to purchase electric locomotives produced in Astana, marking a significant milestone in the factory’s history and highlighting successful collaboration between Kazakh and Azerbaijani industries.

An agreement on supply of 50 electric locomotives produced in Astana by “Electrovoz kurastyru zauyty” LLP (“Электровозқұрастырузауыты “) for Azerbaijani railway has been signed in Baku. This information is reported by astana.kz referring to Tengrinews.kz.

According to conditions of the most major agreement in the factory’s history, electric locomotives will be assembled in Kazakhstan and supplied for Azerbaijani railway from 2016. The ceremony of agreement signing involved the president of “Alstrom Transport” company Henri Poupart-Lafarge, Transport Minister of Azerbaijan Ziya Mammadov, and the chairman of “Azerbaijani railways” CJSC Arif Askerov.

“These electric locomotives will be designed at “Electrovoz kurastyru zauyty” factory together with “Alstom Transport” company considering technical and technological requirements of Azerbaijani railway workers. Similar electric locomotives produced in Astana are successfully used in Kazakhstan”, it is reported in the information.

Let us recall that construction of the factory of freight and passenger electric locomotives in Astana started on June 26, 2010, and the opening was held on December 4, 2012. Shares at “Electrovoz kurastyru zauyty” LLP are divided as follows: “Alstrom Transport” – 25%, “Transmashholding” CSJC – 25%, “NC “Kazakhstan temir zholy” JSC – 50% +1 stock.
